FAQ's - Equipment

The boots are hurting my feet, what can I do?

Maybe they are ill fitting? try tying them up more to give you more support or try another inner sole as this sometimes aids comfort

Alternatively visit your local ice rink shop for advice

What is the difference between the boots?

Figure skates - Have toe picks to assist jumping and toe steps for skills and are more like a formal shoe fit wise

Ice hockey – Have no toe picks are designed for speed and tight turns, the fit is more like a trainer

Speed skates – Only have one edge instead of two and are meant for speed

When should I buy my own boots?

I would use the ice rinks hire boots for the 1st few times but after that the sooner you invest in a pair of skates that will mould to your feet the better. Go to your ice rink shop or expert for that one to one experience to make sure that skates are fit for your needs as you cant beat trying different skates on to make sure they fit you properly

Can I use a penguin/skating aid?

Yes, if you feel you need additional help/assistance then by all means
